Biography
Originally from England, Simon's family immigrated to the United States in 1971. Since graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1985, Simon's work has crossed the gamut of commercial, editorial, advertising, corporate, fine art, and the consumer markets. First and foremost Simon is a problem solver and creative thinker. He believes very much that a photograph should communicate an emotion. It is always a collaboration between the photographer and the subject, but it's the photographers job to recognize that decisive moment that captures the essence of the moment and the subject.
Simon has owned and operated two studio's in Raleigh producing photography for annual reports, advertising campaigns, corporate marketing, and local, regional, and national editorial publications. Since 2001, he has sold over 3 million of his humorous greeting cards.
In 2009, he collaborated with the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Hugh Shelton on a coffee table book profiling some of North Carolina's most notable citizens.
Over the last few years, his work is finding it's way into corporate permanent installations around the Triangle. In addition to fine art sales, corporate work, and greeting cards, Simon is now working on a project profiling park rangers of the National Park Service.
